Fast track access to regional HPC resources for new user communities
The HP-SEE project has opened a continuous call for proposals for fast track access to HPC resources available in the South-East Europe region, targeted at new user communities.
Researchers from the region are invited to apply for support in running their scientific applications on resources such as HPC Clusters with Intel-based CPUs, IBM POWER6 CPUs, PowerXCell 8i CPUs, NVIDIA GPUs, interconnected with Gigabit Ethernet or Infiniband. The resources for the fast track access are currently provided by HPC centers in Bulgaria, Serbia, and Romania. Selected applications will be given access to HPC resources and will benefit from the technical support of HP-SEE experts during a two- or three-months period.

HP-SEE Pilot Call: Awarded Applications
HP-SEE project gives access for 13 scientific projects to HPC resources in South East Europe through the 1st pilot call for access.
HP-SEE (High-Performance Computing Infrastructure for South East Europe’s Research Communities) pilot call for proposals was organized between 7th September and 5th October 2012. In total 20 projects were submitted from 9 different countries in the fields of Computational Chemistry, Computational Physics, Life Sciences, Earth and Space Sciences, and Engineering. The submitted projects underwent both technical evaluation by technical reviewers-experts of the participating HPC centers (Centers offering resources to the plot call), and scientific peer review by selected scientific reviewers from all the participating countries in the region. Finally, 11 projects which satisfied the eligibility criteria are selected and will take access to the powerful national High Performance Computing systems available in the SEE region, for a period of 12 months, starting from December, 2012. Another 2 projects from the Eastern Mediterranean region gained access to limited HPC resources in collaboration with the LinkSCEEM-2 project.
HP-SEE User Forum 2012
HP-SEE User Forum will take place in Belgrade, Serbia on October 17-19, 2012 in National Library of Serbia.
It will gather scientists from the SEE Region and beyond, with main focus on the following fields:
- Computational Physics
- Computational Chemistry
- Life Science
- Scientific Computing
- HPC Systems and Network Operation
Featured Application
Molecular Dynamics Study of Complex Systems (MDSCS)
The parallel molecular dynamics simulation of complex system consisting of surfactant/polymer mixtures is planning to carry out. The self –assembling of surfactant systems is also planning to study. The molecular dynamics results together with experimental finding will help to understand the mechanism of interactions in physical point of view and, which is most important, will give us an important information concerning the conformation and localization of system components (polymer, surfactant, water, ect.).

Project Overview
High-Performance Computing Infrastructure for South East Europe’s Research Communities
HP-SEE, High-Performance Computing Infrastructure for South East Europe’s Research Communities will link existing and upcoming HPC facilities in South East Europe in a common infrastructure, and it will provide operational solutions for it. As a complementary action, the project will establish and maintain a GÉANT link for Southern Caucasus. The initiative will open the South East European HPC infrastructure to a wide range of new user communities, including those of less-resourced countries, fostering collaboration and providing advanced capabilities to researchers, with an emphasis on strategic groups in computational physics, computational chemistry and life sciences. HP-SEE receives EC support through FP7 under the "Research Infrastructures" action.
